Chikyu Skincare

*All products shown here were purchased by me or included as samples in my order* I’m having so much fun finding new ingredient-conscious brands to try and I discovered Chikyu Skincare on Etsy while on a search for some all natural skin brightening solutions. I’ll be trying all of these out over the next month or so, but I wanted to share a bit about the brand and my first impressions now. Chikyu is focused on simple, pure ingredients without GMO’s, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, or petrochemicals. One of the things

Pure Lip Hairapy Conditioner

Product Review: Pure Elements – Hairapy Conditioner

Pure Lip Hairapy Conditioner

This Hairapy Conditioner comes from a new-to-me brand called Pure Elements/Pure Lips and I picked it up during a recent sale because conditioners for my hair type have been difficult to find and this one seemed promising. Pure Elements offers three versions of their conditioner: Original, Unscented, and the Inflorescence (essential oils) scent. I got the Inflorescence which includes peppermint, rosemary, wild lavender, sweet tangerine, yuzu, and ylang ylang essential oils. This lovely conditioner has a lot of great ingredients including: Cucumber Extract – for hydration Wheat Protein – increases

Lovely Look: No. 2 Pretty and Peachy

Today’s lovely look is all about the color peach and features peach eyeshadow and cheeks with a lovely neutral lip gloss. This is a really wearable, pretty look featuring ingredient-conscious products that is easy to do. I started with my usual foundation routine and a little eyelid primer, then patted on a beautiful shade of Scaredy Cat Cosmetics called Flounce Cat. I will note that the shade is described as a nude pink with gold highlights on Etsy, but I simply call it peachy. Either way it’s super pretty and

As with my Round 1 post, I used EWG’s Skin Deep database to choose which products to keep and which have to go. In order for me to keep them all ingredients must rank 0 to 2 on the scale. This round I started out with 62 products and ended up with

I stopped using chemical hair dye a few years ago and that helped a lot, but switching to all natural hair care has helped even more! I’m going to outline 3 awesome, affordable, natural products I use that have helped strengthen and improve my long hair. As evidenced in many of my photos on Instagram, I have very long hair, so long that you usually don’t see all of it in my photos. It’s about tailbone length and it’s been about this long since I was a very little girl.

Experimenting with Color: Bold Eyeshadow – Two Ways

DelilaSophia Bold Eyeshadow Bright Liner #1

I’m going to show you how to experiment with color featuring a bright blue shadow. One of my all time favorite ways to wear bold eyeshadow colors is as eyeliner and a close second favorite is blended out into my crease. You can do one or the other, or both, it’s your choice!

Making the Cut: Round 1 – Pink, Coral & Neutral Lip Products

DelilaSophia Making the Cut Picks

I decided it’s time for me to start really making the switch to more ingredient-conscious makeup and this is round one: pink, coral/peach, and neutral lip products. Keep reading to find out what had to go and why, and what made the cut. I used EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database and painstakingly searched for ingredients in each product until I came to one that was a 3 or above or until I ran through the entire list for a product. I started out with 81 products, yes, 81, and just

Ingredient Concious

How to: Be Ingredient-Conscious

Ingredient Concious

One of the biggest changes I’ve made to my beauty routine is being more ingredient-conscious and I’d like to share a few of my tips with you so you can learn to take more control of what you put on your face. Being “ingredient-conscious” means being mindful of what ingredients are in the products you are using. This includes things like reading labels and learning what some of the common ingredients are and where they come from. I think of this as a learning process and something that is specific

Experimenting With Color: Purple Blush

I don’t know about you, but aside from a few really bold shades in college, I’d never been one to play with too much color in my makeup, nevermind playing with unusual colors of blush (which, by the way, I never even wore before a couple years ago). But as I’ve gotten a bit more comfortable with makeup and I’ve learned a few different application techniques, I’ve become more comfortable having fun and trying new things and today I thought I’d experiment with color in the form of this lovely
