I’m having so much fun finding new ingredient-conscious brands to try and I discovered Chikyu Skincare on Etsy while on a search for some all natural skin brightening solutions. I’ll be trying all of these out over the next month or so, but I wanted to share a bit about the brand and my first impressions now.
Chikyu is focused on simple, pure ingredients without GMO’s, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, or petrochemicals. One of the things that really drew me into this brand in particular is their focus on Japanese philosophies in skin care. Japanese women take great care with their skin and I am quite a fan of their two step cleansing methods and the idea that skin care is something to take your time with, not something to be rushed through. Of course, I also love that Chikyu has brought in knowledge of botanicals so that I can have my Japanese skincare philosophies along with the all natural, organic products my skin loves.
Now, let’s talk about what I got in my order and my first impressions:
Radiance Skin Booster – 0.25 oz sample/trial size – $7.50
This has all sorts of great ingredients in it including ginseng and dandelion which work against free radicals, geranium which helps to regenerate skin, and several other notable ingredients that have been outlined quite well in the listing linked above.
First Impression: This is a fairly thick serum and it applies so smoothly, and absorbs well. My skin definitely felt hydrated and much softer immediately after using it.
Vita Plus Eye Cream – 0.25 oz sample/trial size – $6.50
This eye cream also contains some wonderful ingredients such as rose hip oil, carrot seed oil, and hyaluronic acid.
First Impression: I haven’t tested it under makeup yet, but it’s not super oily, and seems quite emollient. It also seemed to be nicely protective over the skin, if that makes sense.
Face Polish Exfoliator – 1 oz sample/trial size – $2.65
I kind of love scrubs and exfoliators a lot, so of course I wanted to try this one. I love that it contains pumpkin and apple, as well as colloidal oatmeal and many more great ingredients.
First Impression: I used this last night and it was amazing! It is very “scrubby” and left my skin smooth, but not dried out.
I also received samples of:
Facial Cleansing Oil – I wasn’t able to find this on the site
Restoration Overnight Face Cream
Facial Toner for Balanced Skin
I tried out all three of these last night as well and was quite pleased with all of them. I love cleansing oils, the toner seemed to prep my skin beautifully for the other products, and my skin just seemed to drink up the Overnight Face Cream.
This morning, after using all of these products for the first time last night, my skin feels soft, moisturized, and nourished. I’ll keep trying these over the next week or so and fill you in more later.
Have you ever tried Chikyu? Do you think you might try them now?
