6 Ingredient-Conscious Lip Colors for Fall

Delila Sophia's 6 Lip Colors for FallOkay, so as much as I like summer, I love fall too and especially this little collection of lip colors I’ve curated for myself for the fall (though I’m sure I’ll be reaching for others, too). Of course I’ve included the expected purples and berries, but I think brick reds and neutrals are great for fall too. I chose these because I think it’s a great range from the darker and bolder to the softer and more neutral. These are also all ingredient-conscious, paraben free, and affordable (under $10).DelilaSophia's 6 Lip Colors for Fall

You’ll notice from my photo that these are straight from the pouch I keep in my purse (because that’s where I keep my current favorite lip colors), so some of them are a bit scratched or faded. Because, after all, how can I tell you they’re some of my favorites if I haven’t used them? ^_~

Darling Girl Cosmetics Kisu Liquid Lip Colors – Selfie Kiss

Finding a liquid lip color that is ingredient-conscious can be a little challenging, but this one from Darling Girl is pretty amazing. The color is a beautiful pigmented berry purple and it wears well. This one does stain, but I actually like that. It has a doe foot applicator and it’s easy to apply. I do recommend blotting this one (I’m kind of bad about remember to blot, but it really helps). Honestly, I don’t know why I haven’t bought the more of these because they’re really little gems of the indie lip world!

Ingredients: Castor (Ricinus Communis) Seed Oil, Argania spinosa (Argan) Nut Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Kaolin, Caprylic/Capric/Stearic Glycerides, Resveratrol and Tocopherol. May also contain: Titanium Dioxide Red #7, Red #21, Red #27, Red #33, Red #40, Blue #1, Yellow #5, Synthetic Fluorophlogopite, Tin Oxide, Silica and Flavor

Tater Rounds Beauty Semi Matte LipstickĀ  – Black Plum

One of the things that was driving me crazy earlier this summer was all of the gorgeous purple lip colors that kept showing up on social media that looked EXACTLY like some of the drugstore stuff I’d thrown out due to all the chemicals. Then I happened to go to Tater Rounds on Etsy and boom! She had several great purples and I picked up Black Plum and another called Medusa. Black Plum is a nice rich purple that wear well, is semi-matte, and (perhaps best of all) doesn’t dry out my lips. If you’re a purple lipstick lover like I am, you know you need this!

Note: While I don’t have the full ingredients list, I have spoken to the shop owner in PM and she has assured me that her products are all natural and do not contain parabens or other nasty chemicals.

My Beauty Addiction’s Color Rich Lipstick (Slimline) – Cranberry

MBA is a great indie company that has a huge range of colors from neutrals to reds to more unique colors like blues and greens, and this is one of the Color Rich Lipsticks which are very pigmented, wear well, and are also affordable. I do recommend applying in light layers and/or blotting because these can be quite dark and heavy if you don’t use a light hand. Sometimes I like that look, other times I don’t so it’s really up to you and your taste. This color will lean towards more deep purple if you go heavier, but once blotted it’s a sort of brown/burgundy/berry to me and that’s how I usually wear it. MBA offers these in slimline tubes (like I have), jars, and bullet style lipsticks.

Ingredients: Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide

Silk Naturals Velvet Matte Lipstick – Marsala

Remember how Marsala was the Pantone color of the year for 2015? I decided to jump on the bandwagon earlier in the year when I placed my first Silk Naturals order, so I order this lipstick. As Marsala is, this lipstick is brownish red which I quite like with my skintone and I think it’s the sort of color that would also work for a variety of skintones. But what really makes this stand out for me is the formulation. I think most of us probably know that matte lip colors tend to be drying, sometimes flaky or spotty, and not always the longest lasting. Well, Silk Naturals Velvet Mattes are not! This lipstick is moisturizing, lasts well, and applies smoothly and opaquely without being heavy. If you’re looking for matte lip colors, even if this isn’t your shade, I have to strongly recommend these from Silk Naturals.

Ingredients: Fractionated coconut oil, Castor Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Vanilla scented fractionated coconut oil. Also contains: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Manganese Violet

Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon – Redwood Forest

Color-wise, this is right between the Silk Naturals Marsala (above) and Garter (below). I feel like the formula is a bit lighter/more sheer (though it’s not really sheer, just more so than the Silk Naturals). I actually expected this to be darker when I bought it, but it ended up being a bit more natural. It’s grown on me over the past couple weeks and I’ve found myself reaching for it more. This is one of those lip colors that I really don’t notice after I put it on. It’s not really moisturizing or drying on me, not heavy, and has no added fragrance. It’s just a nice, low profile rosy reddish-brown neutral lip color.

Ingredients: ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, candelilla cera (euphorbia cerifera wax, cire de candelilla), cera alba (beeswax, cire d’abeille), cera carnauba (copernicia cerifera wax, cire de carnauba), butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, hydrogenated vegetable oil, aleurites moluccana seed oil*, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, tocopherol, lecithin, silica, glycine soja (soybean) oil. +/- (May contain / Peut contenir): CI 77891 (titanium dioxide), CI 77019 (mica), CI 75470 (carmine), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (iron oxides) *kendi oil

Silk Naturals Velvet Matte Lipstick – Garter

Just like the Marsala I mentioned above, this is a great matte lip color and it wears much the same, as would be expected. This one is neutral rose pink shade (though the site calls it a lighter nude plum) and it a slightly more rose pink MLBB shade for me. This is my go to natural lip color lately, great for when I want to do something a bit more colorful with my eyes and I can’t decide what to do with my lip color. I love my bold lip colors, but sometimes you just need that really solid staple neutral and this is for me.

Ingredients: Fractionated coconut oil, Castor Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, Vanilla scented fractionated coconut oil. Also contains: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Manganese Violet

Now that I’ve told you about each one, I’ll show you some swatches. These are all one swipe on bare skin shot with a daylight bulb.
